Balancing energy with plants

Want to infuse your house or office with some positive energy? Using living plants as decoration elements can strengthen the energy of the wood element in feng shui. Popular plants you can incorporate at home include snake plants, ficus trees, and lucky bamboo. Though many love cacti plants, pointy and sharp plants aren’t always associated with good feng shui energy. Placement of your houseplants is also crucial, as placing houseplants in the east or southeast of your space can help infuse the space with the forces of growth.

Lighting to soothe the mind and body

How best to create harmony and balance in your house than by using lighting strategically? When placing lamps, position them in a way that helps them provide adequate light without creating glare or shadows. Consider using warm light bulbs to create an inviting ambiance while avoiding harsh or cool white light.

In feng shui, try placing a lamp on either side of the sofa or bed to create balance. Also, think about the direction the light is facing; pointing lamps to the center of the room can have a calming effect. As for overusing a single overhead light, it can introduce stagnant energy. Instead, opt for multiple light sources at different levels to create more balance when lighting your room.

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that harmonises individuals with their environment. It focuses on arranging spaces to enhance energy flow, promoting balance and well-being. Based on the belief that energy, known as chi, influences all aspects of life, Feng Shui utilises principles like yin and yang, the five elements, and the Bagua map. By optimising the arrangement of furniture, colours, and objects, Feng Shui aims to create a harmonious and supportive environment that positively impacts health, relationships, and prosperity.
